Why is the One Piece TCG So Valuable?
Three things push a one piece card price record higher:
- The license. One Piece is one of the best-selling manga series ever, and adult collectors with money to spend want cards of Luffy, Zoro, Shanks and Ace. Five of the ten most valuable cards in our data are Luffy cards.
- Rare printings of popular cards. Every set has base versions of the playable cards and much rarer versions of the same cards: Manga Rares, SPs, Gold and Super Alternate Arts. Bandai doesn't publish pull rates, but these versions are scarce enough that a single copy can be worth more than a case of boxes.
- Tournament prizes. Some cards exist only as prizes: trophy cards for championship winners, serialized promos, Treasure Cup and Regional cards. They are made in tiny numbers, and they hold the public records.
The Manga Rares: The Holy Grails of Main Sets
Among one piece tcg expensive cards that anyone can pull from a booster pack, the classic chase is the Manga Rare: a character drawn over a background of black-and-white manga panels.
Bandai doesn't publish pull rates, and we don't print community estimates for them here. What is known: an English booster box has 24 packs, and a case has 12 boxes.

The Gear 5 Luffy manga from OP05 (OP05-119) is worth more, with a Cardmarket trend of €12,030.94, but it sells too rarely on TCGplayer to have a market price (OP05 guide).
- Roronoa Zoro (OP06 Wings of the Captain): close to $2,500 on both marketplaces, and the PRB-01 reprint costs almost as much.
- Portgas.D.Ace (OP02 Paramount War): the original Manga Ace sells for $1,700 on TCGplayer and €1,820.62 on Cardmarket.

The Phenomenon of Serialized Cards
Some promos carry a printed serial number, and some are one-of-a-kind trophy cards for championship winners. Published sales:

According to CGC, the 2023 World Finals Luffy was meant for the first-place winner of the 2023 World Finals but was never handed out, because the winner received a Japanese version. ICv2 reports the $713,700 trophy card as the most expensive One Piece card ever sold.
In our TCGplayer data, the most expensive serialized cards are Portgas.D.Ace (Serial Numbered, OP07-119) at $9,950 and Yamato (Serial Numbered, EB02-006) at $4,250. Cards like these sell rarely, so the market price can rest on very few sales: the Ace price was last updated on August 2, 2026.
The Super Pre-Release Winner Monkey D. Luffy named as the record holder in the first version of this guide has no current market price in our data, and we found no published auction record for it.

What the list shows:
- Luffy dominates. Five of the ten are Luffy cards, and OP05-119 (the Gear 5 Luffy) appears twice as an SP in OP11.
- The two marketplaces disagree a lot. The Red Super Alternate Art Luffy (OP13-118) is $7,500 on TCGplayer but has a €22,916.52 trend on Cardmarket. The Boa Hancock SP is $6,969.69 against €2,284.64. On cards this rare, check recent sales on both before you trust either number.
- Most of the top cards come from packs. Seven of the ten come out of booster packs, mostly from extra boosters and recent sets, not from OP01-OP06.
The Grading Impact: PSA 10 vs BGS 10 Black Label
Most record sales are graded cards, and the grade can matter as much as the card.
- PSA 10 (Gem Mint): PSA's top grade, and the one you'll see on most high-end listings.
- CGC Pristine 10: one of CGC's top grades. The $315,600 2023 World Finals Luffy was a CGC Pristine 10.
- BGS 10 Black Label: Beckett gives a Black Label only when a card scores 10 in all four subgrades (centering, corners, edges, surface), which makes it much rarer than a regular 10.

Why is the one piece tcg sec price sometimes dramatically lower than SR Alternate Arts?
Rarity labels don't set the price; scarcity and demand do. A regular Secret Rare (SEC) is easier to pull than the rare printings of the same set (Manga, SP, Gold, Super Alternate Art), so an Alternate Art of a Super Rare or a Leader can sell for far more than a regular SEC. The Manga Rare Ace (OP02-013), for example, is a Super Rare by rarity and sells for $1,700.

It depends on the card, and we don't have a systematic comparison. Some prizes exist in only one language: according to CGC, the English 2023 World Finals Luffy was never handed out because the winner received a Japanese version, and it later sold for $315,600. For any specific card, compare recent sales in both languages before buying.
